Himanta Biswa Sarma says some Assam districts have become mini Bangladesh

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed concern on Friday, saying that some districts in the state are turning into “mini Bangladesh.”

Speaking at an event in Guwahati, he noted that the Hindu population in Bangladesh has dropped significantly since India’s independence, and similar changes are happening in parts of Assam.

He mentioned that in districts like Dhubri, Hindus now make up only 12% of the population, and in places like Barpeta and Morigaon, they are around 30-35%.

Sarma warned that Hindus in these areas are currently safe because of fear of government action, but without this, Assam could face a situation like Bangladesh. He urged Hindus to become self-reliant for their safety.
