Today, the All Bongaigaon District Students Union held a protest against the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) and the electricity department in Bongaigaon city.
Demonstrators staged a symbolic “funeral” of the electricity department, demanding the withdrawal of smart meters and a reduction in electricity fees.
The protest aimed to voice residents’ concerns over rising electricity costs and the implementation of smart meters, which many feel are unnecessary and burdensome.
